Fighting Depression - Your Best Defense is a Body, Mind, Spirit Approach

With the number of people who claim to be depressed at near epidemic proportions, it's time to take a step back and ask ourselves: Why are so many people are depressed and why are women significantly more depressed than men? Better yet, if you're depressed, or know someone who is, what is the best course of treatment to beat the blues so you can begin to lead a happier, more productive life?

There are different factors that contribute to depression. Too many challenges in life (and not enough coping skills) are certainly factors. Un-related health problems, such as hypothyroidism or a vitamin D deficiency, can also make you feel depressed. And a chemical imbalance within the body can lead to depression.

Although many cases of depression are treated with medication, drugs alone rarely get to the root of the problem. Anti-depressants attack the symptoms of depression from a chemical perspective. But if you don't address the other factors that contribute to depression, you may end up being medicated for a very long time. That's why the best defense against depression is a wellness plan that takes a body, mind, spirit approach.

Body

If you're taking medication for depression, you've begun working on the Body part of the whole person approach toward wellness. But there are other aspects of your body that you should address. Diet is a huge defense mechanism when fighting depression. Proper nutrition - including plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and adequate amounts of lean protein - are critical to the optimal functioning of your body. Filling your stomach with fast food and refined sugar will only increase the chemical chaos in your body, making it more difficult to reset the balance. Consider taking a high quality vitamin supplement each day to support adequate vitamin and mineral intake.

Exercise is another important aspect of the Body equation. Studies have shown that 30 minutes of light aerobic activity like walking can help your body product natural antidepressants, called endorphins. Getting some sort of exercise every day is very important if you're depressed.

Mind

Next up in the fight against depression is the Mind. Negative, self-defeating thoughts are learned over time. And with hard work, they can not only be un-learned, but they can be replaced with positive, nurturing attitudes.

Although immersing yourself in self-help books can help, re-training your mind often requires outside assistance. A therapist or personal coach will have many skills, tips, and tricks to help you overcome the internal mind games that we all play. It's important to find someone you can trust so that you can be honest about your thoughts and feelings without feeling judged. Because of this, you probably shouldn't fill this support role with a friend or loved one. The people you are close to often can't be objective in this role and may not tell you what you need to hear.

Spirit

Finally, it's vital to feed your Spirit when fighting depression. Although taking a more active role in religious activities can help some people, feeding your Spirit goes well beyond this structured environment.

There are countless ways to bring more spirit into your life. Here are just some examples:

  • Take a class
  • Read an uplifting book
  • Take up meditation or yoga
  • Do volunteer work
  • Practice random acts of kindness
  • Get a massage
  • Take a long, hot bubble bath
  • Hug your children or spouse more often
  • Call in sick and take a "mental health" day

Feeding your Spirit simply involves taking action or doing activities that makes your soul feel good inside.

Not an Easy Road

Taking a proactive, mind-body-spirit approach to fighting depression is not an easy road to follow, especially when you can't even bring yourself to get out of bed in the morning. But if you truly want to heal yourself from the inside out, you really need to address all aspects of who you are: body, mind, and spirit.

Begin by taking baby steps and incorporating a little bit of each aspect into each day. And be sure and reach out to your health care provider and other trained professionals to ensure that you get the loving support you need as you begin the road to recovery.

Discover How to Gain Self Confidence and Improve Yourself With Easy Methods You Can Do Right Now!

Many people don't have any idea about how to gain self confidence. All of us have our flaws in place. However, we are also useful each in our own way. Therefore, if there is anyone around you who is trying to make you feel useless, then immediately state otherwise. You need to be confident of yourself before exuding it to others.

The more you listen to others who place restrictions on your capabilities the more you start to believe in the impossibility of things. The main thing about how to gain self confidence is to believe that you can do anything you put your mind to if you want to.

Think well about yourself. Be rational about your success and don't blow your failures out of proportion. We all have our good times, and we have our bad times. A confident person will take the good times as it comes and will handle the bad times with much more ease.

If you don't take care of your self confidence you will be stuck in a never ending cycle of low self esteem and depression. Your opinion of yourself will be low at all times. You will never realize your potential. Therefore, it is important to be around people who will boost your confidence and fill your mind with positive thoughts. Stay away from discouraging or intimidating people.

The pursuit of self confidence must come from within. Unless you want to change that about yourself, no one else can. But with the right techniques and tools you can accomplish amazing results.

The Plain Truth about Easter

Like dumb sheep to the slaughter, most of mankind continues to blindly follow pagan traditions, rather than obey God's clear commands (Mark 7:7). Has it ever occurred to those stuffing their faces with Easter ham that Jesus would puke at the thought? Neither Jesus or Peter, James or John ever ate forbidden foods. They wouldn't feel too comfortable at plenty of people's dinner tables.

Even the early Gentile converts to Jewish Christianity respected the biblical dietary laws (Acts 15:20), understanding that not all foods are sanctioned by the Creator in the Holy Scriptures (I Timothy 4:5).

When John the Baptist recognized Jesus as our Passover sacrifice, he declared: "Behold the Lamb of God" (John 1:29). He didn't say, "Here comes the Easter Bunny!" Again, like the Easter ham, the Easter rabbit is also rejected in the Bible as an abomination (Leviticus 11:6-7).

The very name of Easter exposes itself as a heathen festival, although it's cloaked as "Christian." Easter/Ishtar/Astarte is the Babylonian spring goddess our British-Israelite forefathers foolishly worshipped. Hence the fertility symbols of rabbits and eggs.

God isn't fooled by such baptized paganism, such whitewashed heathen customs (Deuteronomy 12:30). He commands us to commemorate Jesus' death every Passover and recognize His atoning work of redemption as our resurrected High Priest in Heaven, unleavening our lives of sin (I Corinthians 5:7-8).

The early Church followed Jesus' Jewish example for several hundred years until Gentile opposition (from false converts) threatened them with a death sentence if they didn't bow before Easter observances (the Quarto-Deciman controversy)!

A growing number now know, understand and believe the biblical account that we're to observe Passover and that Jesus was resurrected before sunrise Sunday, "when it was yet dark" (John 10:1). Others prefer to reject this light of understanding to remain in their traditional darkness and die in their sins (John 3:19)-- it's that serious! Because if our nations don't repent of such idolatry and immorality we'll soon suffer national destruction, defeat and deportation! That's why this article of faith is part of our plea to diehard Catholics and Protestants to repent.

Thankfully, every generation has those chosen few who are willing to reject holidays for holy days and "earnestly contend for the faith once delivered" (Jude 3). Hopefully, this plain truth about Easter will cause you to question your beliefs and provide some "kosher" food for thought!

Secret

Getting it Going

You are to be congratulated for going the extra mile, even though you are enlightened enough to know that the interest you receive, leveraged back, compounded back, pays you in spades.

And so here is another idea we like to think about, it's about "getting started", it's about "some is always better than none". It's about once you take a step forward then you'll be in a different place and you'll have a different view, you'll see different things, different opportunities, and different ways to advance.

I'm talking about some people make splendid plans and they go to seminars for years trying to figure out how to, for instance, put up an internet business... How to trade stocks or options... How to buy nothing down real estate... Or how to become a wealth coach. And then they've got so many excuses saying, for instance, the technology's become too difficult, or "I'm not wealthy myself, how can I teach other people to be wealthy?"

And then others attend a single seminar, start by reading/taking a single course.

Start, not getting it right, but getting it going.

One thing for sure... If you want an excuse, you got it.

Excuses are easy. But do they move you toward your goal?

I'd like to share with you a story about the very first book (manual, to be more exact) I ever published. I wrote it, advertised it, got orders, and shipped it. Then I got it back from about three or four different people, all written over and scribbled in red. Seems I had a lot of spelling and grammatical errors in the work.

That was the humble beginning, that first product I ever sold in the beginning of business that would turn into multi-millions of dollars. It was just a $97 sell of an imperfect product, but it got the chain of events in motion that would make me millions.

Imperfectly done, but DONE, that's the thing. You can try and get it perfect, but if that keeps you from getting it out the door, there's no point. Some is always better than none. Getting going is the most crucial step you'll ever take.

Hey, talk about red ink!... Those people who were sending me that product back marked in red, those were corrections they were giving me! This was great, because I entered them into the computer, and the next time I printed the book out to sell it, it was better!... Those were improvements! I quit getting those nasty correction letters.

It went upwards on from there. The message is: don't let the perfection bug bite you. You can't afford it. The most important thing you could ever do in any venture is get going. That's how you'll go to a new place, experience a new view, take new actions. That's how you'll get feedback. That's how you'll know if it's making money, if it's adequate for the market, and a thousand and one other discoveries that you can't imagine grandstanding or preparing.

Get out there and play. That's how you make money!

Inspiring Or Controlling Our Children - Raising Children With Love

I myself was a product of a child brought up in a Christian home, even though I would not consider my parents strong Christians. Both of my parents did what they believed was right and raised me and my siblings to the best of their ability. I sincerely believe my mother and father did the best they could with the information they had available at the time.

Were my parents inspiring me to become a better person, morally with discipline and obedience, or were they manipulating me to become a better person through religion and schooling. As children we don't have a lot of free will and as adults it seems like we have even less, the more we become controlled by our government, religion, family, friends or even our workplace, where we seem to spend most of our waking hours.

I believe we need to inspire our children through education and as a good parental example. This means we need to quit telling our children what to do and how to act and start doing so ourselves. Just because you go to church or your place of worship, does not make you a good person.

Manipulating our children with religion and raising them as products of our society, is often like farmers raising animals to have their lives sacrificed for others to benefit from. The minute we raise our children to fit into society, instead of questioning it, we are basically surrendering our free will and fitting into society to follow the laws and guidelines created by our governments.

Whenever someone in America says they are free, or this is the land of the free, I often look around at the people who have very little say in the lives they lead. Sure you get to choose whether you want to buy an ice cream or take a walk down the street but we are still blinded by the control placed upon us by our society.

I don't believe our children benefit from manipulation and control. I feel our children would do better if we acted as stewards towards them instead of owners. I have always viewed my children as individuals and often guided them through inspiration instead of manipulation.

I'm not asking you to let your children run wild through the grocery stores, raise your children with guidance and discipline but don't impose your will or beliefs upon them, we often do more damage in the long run creating a race of followers instead of thinkers. It seems like spoiled children become menaces to society eventually.

Breathing Your Troubles Away - The Way You Breathe Can Heal and Transform Your Life

The breath has the capacity to ease pain and soften tension. When you concentrate on breathing, your mind is able to gather together all its scattered energies. Your mind becomes much more focused, quiet, and clear. In fact, when you focus on your breathing, you are in the present, in the here and now. You are able to truly shift from one state of consciousness to another.

The Breath Moves Consciousness

Some great thinkers have actually said that the breath has the power to actually move matter and consciousness to new states of being. The breath is the life force.. When you focus on breathing, you focus on directing the life force within you This focuses and quiets your mind and helps you move energy. That's why it's so powerful to breathe into your difficulties. It moves them, shifts them, transforms them.

Rapid, Anxious Breathing

Notice your breathing when you feel anxious and uncentered. It's high up in your chest, and it's shallow and rapid. Some people feel as if their feet are going to leave the ground. Others break out into pronounced sweats. Rapid breathing and fear thoughts can create the perception of anxiety.

By breathing more deeply and bringing your breath down into your belly, you'll feel a greater sense of peace. You pay attention to what's bothering you, then breathe into your issues and breathe them out deeply transforms your life experiences.

Constricted Breathing

When you open and relax your breathing, you're able to release and transform old habits of mind with greater ease. The Buddha said, "Being sensitive to the whole body, the yogi breathes in; being sensitive to the whole body, the yogi breathes out."

When we inhale, the air comes into the inner world. When we exhale, the air goes out to the outer world. The inner world is limitless, and the outer world is also limitless. . . . Actually, there is just one whole world. -Shunryu Suzuki, The Enlightened Mind

Starting With Simple Things

Yoga And To Force Or to Feel

Most of us who do yoga yearn for more from the practice than just physical benefits--indeed, for more than just benefit to ourselves. But how can twisting our bodies, opening our hips, and straightening our legs make a difference in the wider world? How can lifting our chests help lift up this troubled planet?

Our asana practice can have a positive impact because it constantly asks us to become more sensitive, more conscious, more aware of ourselves--not just our bodies but also our minds, feelings, emotions, and our very nature. The real value of asana practice is that it can teach us to tune in and truly feel. As our sensitivity increases, life becomes more rich and enjoyable because we can taste the unique flavor of each individual moment. More important, we also become more aware of what moves us toward out dharma and what takes us away from it. This awareness makes us clearer and more peaceful, more able to elegantly handle life's endless dilemmas without feeling overwhelmed or fearful. As a result, we become more effective in all of our actions, and our presence begins to inspire and bring out the best in people around us.

The opposite of feeling is forcing. When we force, we cannot feel, and when we feel, we cannot force. The moment we start to force, we begin to lose awareness of the effect our efforts have on our nervous system, on the situation itself, and on the other people involved. Forcing makes us angry, inflexible, and intolerant; raises our blood pressure; and can eventually create heart problems. Feeling, on the other hand, makes us calmer, more receptive, more understanding, and healthier.

If we force ourselves into Ardha Matsyendrasana II (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose II), the spine will twist where it always has, where it needs the twist the least. In this pose, it is particularly easy to force the body while attempting to reach around the back and grab the shin. To the extent that the desire to do this comes from the ego's urge to satisfy itself--just to prove we can do this pose--it manifests itself as force. Feeling, on the other hand, allows us to tune in to the habitual tendencies of the body and sense which vertebrae are twisting and which are not. Cultivating feeling in Ardha Matsyendrasana II allows movement where there was stagnation, release where there was stiffness, and freedom where there was bondage.

Just as force and feeling are opposites, so are violence and awareness. We often get angry, and sometimes even outwardly violent, when a situation arises that is not to our ego's liking, rather than using it as an opportunity to become more aware. But violence inevitably breeds more violence. The more forceful and violent we are, the further we move from feeling and awareness; consequently, the more violent we become.

I believe much of the violence in our world comes from our lack of awareness, which has historically manifested itself as an unwillingness to see other people's point of view. When we pause and feel, we become more open and more receptive to the possibility that there are valid ways of thinking other than our own.

Sensitivity is often portrayed as weakness, yet it actually gives us the strength to lower our guard and say to an enemy, "Let's sit down and talk this through. How are you feeling? Why are you behaving the way you are?" People who have the security that comes with deep sensitivity and awareness have no desire to be violent; it is insecurity that contributes to violence. Through feeling, sensitivity, and awareness, we can bring insecurity and its resulting violence to an end.

What does all of this have to do with our individual practice of asanas like Ardha Matsyendrasana II? The awareness that we develop on the yoga mat, though seemingly small, affects all that is. As we become more aware in our yoga practice and in our lives, as we move away from force and violence and toward sensitivity, feeling and awareness, we change our individual consciousness and actions. In turn, these changes influence the consciousness and actions of everyone we meet. Slowly we shift the direction the world is taking. As we practice each asana, whether it be a challenging twist like Ardha Matsyendrasana II or a simple standing pose, we have the opportunity to become the embodiment of peace and to make our practice a prayer for harmony in the world.

Habits To Prevent Losing Things

Amish Country - A Great Place to Visit

The first Amish settlements were in Berks County Pennsylvania. The land there was highly suited to farming. During the French and Indian wars their homes were disturbed by raiders and many Amish found safe haven in Lancaster County, PA.

Disputes among the people on the interpretation of the Ordnung caused many families to leave the PA communities and settle in places like Iowa and Missouri. The Ordnung is the oral code on how an Amish person was to live and conduct themselves. Further Amish settlements would crop up around the heartland from European immigrants. Today Holmes County Ohio, Lancaster County Pa and Lagrange Indiana host the largest populations of Amish.

Population, land shortage and Ordnung issues have resulted in Amish settlements spreading into 25 states and Canada. The most recognized Amish are the Old Order Amish who have compromised the least with the world at large.

Many people refer to the Amish as Pennsylvania Dutch but they are actually of Swiss-German descent. Dutch came about by the misspelling of Deutsch, which is a word for the German language. This language is still spoken in many Old Order Amish communities. Amish communities in Pennsylvania are largest in Lancaster County with the oldest settlement in the United States being in the southeast. This is a beautiful county filled with covered bridges and old German architecture. The gorgeous Susquehanna River meanders through the landscape and under the many covered bridges. As far as the eye can see there are lush farmlands and quiet back roads beckoning the visitor with promises of peace and tranquility.

Visit the area's many museums and historical sites like the oldest Mennonite meetinghouse in the country, as well as the farm and hardware store in Witness, a Harrison Ford movie. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the local lore by traveling by bus, car, horse-drawn buggy or even a hot air balloon. The food is amazing and there are antiques, furniture, quilts and dozens of other Amish made articles to choose from.

Elkhart and Lagrange County are home to the Indiana Amish communities. You can learn a great deal about the Amish and Mennonite religion and culture by visiting the Menno-Hof, an information center.

Better yet, take a trip to Amish Acres Historic Farm and Heritage Resort. When you finally get to town, there are farmers markets and village shops for your shopping pleasure. Flea markets, auctions, theaters and restaurants are all a great part of any trip to Amish country. Here you can also take horse and buggy trips that will take you to Amish style inns and farmstead shops. No matter how you experience this extraordinary life, do not miss a backcountry tour that will absolutely enthrall you.

In central Ohio, you will find several thriving Amish communities around Holmes County. Get off the main interstate and enjoy a trip to the historic towns of Millersburg, Berlin and Walnut Creek. There are shops where you can find all kinds of Amish fare. Things like handmade quilts, cheese, furniture, antiques and the best food on the planet. Get back to the old way of life by touring scenic farms and quaint homes of the Amish people. Three great places to visit are The Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center, Schrock's Amish Farm and Village or Yoder's Amish Home. The last is an Amish farmstead restored by a couple with close Amish ties. The farm was set up as an educational avenue for outsiders. All this can be seen by buggy, balloon or on a horse.

Leon Tuberman is the owner/operator of Barn Furniture Mart a solid wood furniture store that specializes in handmade Amish furniture for your bedroom, dining room and home office. Barn Furniture's handcrafted furniture is offered in oak, cherry, maple and mahogany in several style including Mission, Shaker, Traditional and Contemporary styles.

Pride Can Often Create Problems in Religion

Have you ever talked to someone about their religious beliefs, only to find out that they are very stubborn, they only want to talk about their beliefs and do not want to listen to your opinion at all. I have met plenty of people that fall into this category and rarely do I run into someone with an open mind about their religious beliefs. These people often try to make you feel stupid and don't realize, that they are the ones who are actually ignorant.

Pride can often create problems in religion and only later when you see the truth can you really understand how stubborn you were. The problem with these people, is that once they find the truth, it's another lie and they seem to push these beliefs on to others. Often these people can be very aggressive and it almost seems like they need to make up for lost time, since they were wrong about their last religion.

Psalm 10:4 In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

It seems like pride has often got man into trouble and rarely gotten him out of it. Pride can often start wars but only after defeat or education can they be ended. While some people go around town shoving religion down your throat in the name of God, others are ignoring the information completely. The problems in religion resulting from someone's pride have created too many problems throughout history and need to be stopped. Turn your prideful thinking into a compassionate mind.

The next time you meet someone on the street or in a store and they look different or have different beliefs, humble yourself and be kind to them. Show a little compassion instead of pride. Maybe, just maybe you could even make friends with these people and learn something about their beliefs. Often you will find that their religious beliefs are not that much different than yours and this could get you thinking and rethinking about your religion.

Look How Far the Lord Has Brought Us!

American along with the world has been privileged to share a monumental, memorable phenomenon. Barack Obama becoming the 44th President of the United States of America is nothing short of a miracle! If you look closely and attentively throughout the corridors of America's history you will find that what was thought to have been unheard of has happened. By the grace of God the "Impossible has become possible!" It took faith, fortitude, stamina, dedication, persistence and perseverance to forge ahead against insurmountable odds for Barak Obama to pursue relentlessly the position of president. His winning the candidacy for the President of America reaches far beyond the United States. It has been said that his methodical, strategic campaign was a seamless, well planned, professionally skilled endeavor of any other candidate. This victory has brought about a much needed message of "Hope" and renewal of confidence within the American people. It also yields a restored "Faith in God." The Word of God tells us that "Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen." The Truth and promises of the scriptures have been "made alive." "With God All things are possible." One can surely appreciate the fact that the " highway of possibilities" has been opened. The possible pathway of opportunities are boundless for our nation, the world and future generations to come.

Traveling throughout the world affords one the opportunity to broaden your perspective and experience and envision life through a much broader lens. I am thankful for having been afforded such an opportunity, to travel throughout the world along with my husband /pastor as well as in a group. The world is so very diverse with a plethora of multi cultural people, customs, religions and beliefs. All having such a broad assorted variety of lifestyles in which an innumerable amount of peoples with diverse backgrounds live together. But regardless as to where I have traveled, from Mexico to Aruba, the Bahamas to Jamaica, England to Rome, Athens Greece to Ephesus, France to Spain and Switzerland.... I have always been thankful to return home to America. We have met wonderful people. There have been countless wonders, magnificent architectural expressions and artistic monuments as well as majestic sceneries to behold from the hilltop Montserrat to Notre Dame Cathedral, St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City to the Blue Mosque and Hagias Sophia in Turkey. Yet I have never seen nor experienced a place where the freedom in which we are privy to here in America is experienced anywhere else in the world. It is because of this freedom and opportunity Barak Obama has become the 44th and 1st Afro American President. How ironic he and his family will be the first Black Family to ever take up resident in the nation's capitol infamously known as "The White House." "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought Us."

In the 1930's America was a segregated society where everything was separate. There were even separate water fountains and restrooms labeled for "Whites only" and less hygienic accommodations for the "Colored". Let's not forget back seats on buses and back entrances to public facilities. Many Blacks decided to migrate to the North. Being born and raised in California has had its benefits since here, we have been somewhat shielded from the dire profundity of racism and discrimination that permeated the deep south. Not that discrimination did not go on here, it did it has and... Here we have just been a tad further removed from the antagonistic discrimination which was so outwardly and blatantly, readily displayed itself in the deep south. Despite the fact America is a country made up of immigrants from all over the world. Where slavery was practiced and embraced. Where many Whites felt that they were superior to Blacks and we were perceived as inferior. To many even to be dark skinned was considered a curse. To be beaten, severely punished, raped or lynched and treated less than human was once considered acceptable behavior. The right to learn how to read and write was also denied as well as deemed illegal. Dissension, factions, immorality and discord are works of the flesh. Here is an excerpt from the article; Blacks are better off than in 1999 than in 1960 "After the Civil War, many amendments were passed in order to better represent blacks in America. The 13th, 14th and 15th amendments all changed blacks' lives drastically and positively. The 13th amendment ended slavery and the 14th declared blacks as citizens. The fifteenth amendment stated that anyone can vote, regardless of color or race. However, the South devised poll taxes and literacy tests in a successful attempt at preventing blacks from voting. But in 1964, after a sufficient number of states ratified an amendment proposed by Congress, the tables turned for blacks. The 24th amendment banned poll taxes. The voting act of 1965 banned the use of literacy tests related to voting. Voting gave blacks a say in government and helped raise the moral of blacks in America." "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought Us."

I can personally recall from time to time watching on television the injustices broadcasted on the news and the many interruptions for special bulletin news reports as a child. I can remember the many tales of my parents and the many experiences they encountered growing up in the early 1900's in Arkansas. I was a mere toddler when segregation in the schools legally ended in 1955, which resulted in the Montgomery Bus Boycotts. The Supreme Court eventually ruled that Alabama segregation laws were unconstitutional. It is during this time that Rosa parks decided not to give up her seat to a white person simply because she was so very tired. This protest resulted in Dr. Martin Luther King a Baptist Minister at the time, being ushered to the front lines as a prominent Social Leader for the Black Community. Discrimination in theaters, hotels, hospitals and public places continued on until in 1964 Congress passed a Civil Rights Act. Dr. King lead many "Peaceful Freedom Protest Marches" protesting the many injustices upon Blacks. Dr. King believed, practiced and exemplified the Fruit of God's Spirit which is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness and Self-Control. "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought Us."

I can recall when I was in Jr. High School during the sixties, as president of my homeroom. I clearly remember having to lead the class in the "Pledge of Allegiance." But, halfway through one particular morning, all of a sudden it dawned on me. It had become quite clear to me that it really was not "Liberty and Justice for all". So I decided that I would silently and peacefully protest not to complete the pledge. Of course it did not go over big at all with my homeroom teacher. But it was a real awakening in my soul... One cannot help but to appreciate the far reaching magnitude of what has taken place here on November 4th 2008! It will be forever recorded in America's History. American has resumed its intended purpose and the opportunity to provide "Liberty and Justice for All" has been forthrightly reinstated! There is no doubt that the successful election of Barak Obama was a concerted effort that included a network of people of All Colors and creeds working together. This is truly a victory for ALL people of America! He comes from a multi faceted colorful ancestral heritage that represents a multitude of people. "With God ALL things are possible." His Word tells us "that God is not a respecter of persons..." It may be hard for the finite mind to fathom that God who is Omniscient, knew way back then, even from the very beginning of time what would be taking place today! "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought Us."

We as Christians and as a Country have so much to be thankful for. All of God's Word is true! Today we are living in perilous times. But despite the nations many financial hardships, declining economy, overwhelming number of businesses closing, devaluation of property, wars and rumors of wars, terrorists attacks, natural disasters, famines and earthquakes in divers places throughout the world, we can have peace knowing God is still in absolute control! Absolutely nothing gets by Him! Romans 12 tells us, "To not be conformed to the pattern of this world! But to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will..." As a professed Christian and believer it is very important to know God's Word! To have an intimate personal relationship with HIM! The book of Romans goes on to tell us that in leadership the ability to govern diligently is a gift from God. Ultimately every authority, government and principality is under God's authority and the headship of Jesus Christ. Colossians tells us that " For by Him All things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible, and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and consist for Him..." Whether you believe it or not only God is Sovereign! The Bible tells us how God, delivered the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage. There are also endless true life stories in His Word of how He delivered His people from unjust rulers and countless situations that seemed impossible. "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought us."

It is through a committed personal relationship with His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ one can truly experience necessary continued spiritual growth and development as well as His peace and freedom that surpasses the understanding of man. There are invaluable benefits knowing who you are in Christ. Today it is through God's grace and mercy America has been delivered! It was quite evident as we all watched the hysterical excitement permeate the enormous crowds as Barak Obama was elected president. God has truly delivered America from the clutches of despair and hopelessness and ushered in a glistening glimmer of "Hope"! "Nothing is impossible with God." In His Word He also tells us although we may be accused living among unbelievers (pagans) we must still live to please Him! God's promise to "never leave nor forsake us" is quite true! Truly we can say "GOD BLESS AMERICA!" As Christians we must individually, collectively and corporately pray and ask God's protection, grace, wisdom and direction to rest upon President Barak Obama, his family and his staff. As he takes upon his shoulders the awesome tasks of restoring America's dignity, credibility and prominent visual universal position. He will encounter many land mines and obstacles. America has a tall order to fill. The 24th Psalms says, "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world and all who live within it..." As a country and a nation that proclaims to be "one nation under God with Liberty and Justice for ALL." The Word says, " With God All things are possible." Praise be to God from whom ALL blessings flow. Praise Him ALL creatures here below... It is truly amazing ! Again "GOD BLESS AMERICA" One can truly say "Look How Far The Lord Has Brought us."

Improve Health With Yoga in Chairs

It is never too late to start a yoga practice. Forget the pictures you see in ads and TV that show 23 year old dancers and gymnasts doing pretzel-like yoga postures. Sure, there are young people taking fast moving classes that focus on difficult poses. But the majority of people taking yoga classes are middle aged and older. And the fastest growing student population for yoga is seniors.

To accommodate this growing segment, more and more classes are being offered to suit the needs and desires particular to older adults. Generally, these classes are called Yoga in Chairs or simply, Chair Yoga. The obstacle to yoga for older people is the frequent getting up and down off the floor, and sitting cross-legged on the ground for extended periods of time. Back problems, knee and hip replacements, arthritis, and fatigue combine to make it difficult to do. Chair Yoga overcomes this difficulty by featuring most of the same postures traditionally taught, but done either sitting in a chair, or using the chair as a balance and support. These classes are not yoga simplified, but yoga adapted.

Chair Yoga offers increased range of motion in the spine and joints, strengthening of muscles, improved balance, better breath control, relaxation and lessening of physical and mental tension, and improved concentration. Exactly as any other yoga class does. Even if you haven't exercised in a long time, or especially if you haven't, you will begin to feel these and other benefits after just a few classes. Ageing creates more of a need for the gifts of yoga, not less. Using the chair as a base, allows older people, or people with physical limitations, to carry on a full yoga practice the same as the 23 year old with both knees behind the head.

A common concern among seniors is that yoga will conflict with their beliefs and traditions. Yoga does have a focus on contemplation and inner peace that can be spiritual for some, but it is not religious in and of itself. There is room for all types of believers and non-believers in a yoga class. A class for older people in particular will focus on the physical aspect of practice and the breath. There will be relaxation and quiet. And there will be time for questions and sharing. Perhaps some soothing music will be played; maybe there will be a chance to chant the sound OM at the end of class-- if you feel like it. The chant of OM is just the traditional way to end a yoga class. It is a bow to history and tradition.

Yoga in Chairs classes can be found in churches, senior centers, through community education, and at yoga studios. Look for ads, fliers, and talk to your friends and family and find the teacher and the location that is right for you. Take a friend with you to practice. Make it a social occasion, and enjoy improving your health in a group of like- minded people who share your interests and concerns. Making yoga a part of your life will be one of the best things you have done for yourself.

Difficulties Talking About Religion

How Your Attitude Affects Your Life

Has anyone ever told you that you need to change your attitude? Change it to what? Where would I go to get a new attitude? I was even told when I was younger, that I had a bad attitude. Bad compared to what? So heres the story; your attitude can be different about many different things. What makes the difference is your attitude toward life; your life.

How often do we think that the person who is cutting us off in traffic is specifically doing it because they have something against us? Think about it; isnt that how we usually act? The truth is the person could have 400 things on their mind, didnt see you, was brought up in a different part of the country (or world) where that type of driving is acceptable, or the person may just be mean. Any way you look at it, it still doesnt mean that this person had anything against you personally. Our programs and/or beliefs dictate how we perceive certain situations and how we ultimately act and/or react. Our attitude can help to guide these programs and beliefs so that we can act or react in a way that is not directly from the unconscious.

Our attitude can determine whether the day is good or not-so good. It can be the catalyst for wealth and abundance beyond our dreams or if we just work to get by. It can determine whether friendships are close or just acquaintances. It can even determine if our relationships are loving and full of trust or if they are just overrated cohabitation. The attitude we have toward daily life can truly help attract more of we want, hence, the Law of Attraction.

So how do we change our attitude? It is as easy as making a decision to do so. We have the power inside of us to decide anything and the ability to follow through with that decision. Once we decide that we are going to have different attitude, we have to determine what the new attitude will encompass. Family? Relationships? Wealth? Career? It can be any or all of these and probably a whole lot more than I have listed.

Gratitude and belief will play an important part in this. When we are grateful for what we have, our belief starts to shift toward abundance of that certain thing that we are grateful for. Once we move into the belief of abundance then our attitude starts to change for the better. (Be careful, this works in reverse also!) And, we then start to attract more of the same into our lives.

Think of one thing that you would like to have a better attitude about. Now make a list of things that you are grateful for surrounding that one thing. Make sure they are positive. Read that list every day, several times a day for a week. By the end of the week you will notice that your view on that particular thing has improved. You will also notice many other things in your life that you are grateful for and many different things that you have a different (hopefully better) attitude about.

Lets look at the person that cut you off. Gratitude: You have a car; you have someplace to go; you have eyes to see the other car; you have the ability to react to avoid an accident; and you have the ability to forgive and move on because this other person has no idea who you are as a person. The list could go on and on. I think you get my point.

I am not saying that you will not have certain times that things pop up that throw you into a spin. Thats just part of life. What I am saying, though, is that you have the ability to look at the situation differently and BE the person that you want to be.

Until next time...

Christian Counseling - Finding Answers to Life's Problems

Christian counseling is a faith based practice that is proudly grounded in the Holy Scriptures and the teachings of Jesus Christ. If you are a strongly spiritual person who is dealing with stress and conflicts this counseling can be of great help. Biblical counseling is the only type of professional help that many deeply religious people feel comfortable in accepting. Sometimes it has been hard for individuals to find the kind of assistance they need, especially if secular counselors were the only ones available. This article will introduce you and your family to the teachings that you can expect in the course of Christian counseling.

There are people who believe strongly in dealing with life problems in ways and manners that are approved and taught in the Bible. To do this properly they need to connect with Family Christian counseling centers that employ staff members who understand their needs. Christian counselors are those who embrace the philosophy and truths that are contained in the Holy Scriptures. Counselors are able to use these truths to effectively show clients how faith and prayer can address the issues at hand.

Biblical counseling can offer many spiritually rewarding benefits when used appropriately by well trained and compassionate professionals. Choosing Christian counseling lets the client deal with their problems or conflicts in a manner that is not at odds with the instruction that they find in the Holy Scriptures. It also helps each client strengthen their faith through prayer and increased scriptural understanding.

Many of the secular based counseling centers can not grasp the importance that deeply religious people affix to their spiritual beliefs and ideals. While these individuals want to gain emotional strength and understanding they also need to remain true to church doctrines. This is where Christian counseling services excel. Being religious and grounded in a particular spiritual belief does not mean that stress, problems and failures will not happen. To those with strong religious convictions these are the times that test their faith. Christian counseling done properly gives them the strength to face adversity and troubling situations.

These counselors use faith and prayer as the foundations for their sessions with clients. Their philosophy is based on the principles that spiritual power will overcome secular problems. It is necessary for those who work with Christian counseling services to uphold and believe in these teachings. Faith based counseling services are important for those who want to live by Christian principles. It is important for them to be allowed to maintain their faith in the power of God and his Holy Son. Christian counseling centers have workers on staff that can address many critical questions about human failings in ways that are not contrary to the client's religious upbringing.

Many of the secular counselors will emphasize avoidance of painful emotions in ways that are at odds with scriptural teachings. However in faith based counseling the emphasis is to look inward, embrace these inner demons and learn from each situation. It is believed that challenges are part of developing a stronger faith and a deeper relationship with God. If you have questions and dilemmas in your life, Christian counseling can show you how to call upon your faith and religious beliefs for the strength and answers that you need.

LoveLines is a non-profit 24 hour telephone and internet Christian counseling center staffed by caring counselors who are here to help! If you are facing difficulty in your life or are in a crisis situation and need someone to talk to, please visit http://www.lovelines.org or call 612-379-1199 to find out how they can help you.

Starting Your Own Religion

Out of Chaos Comes Order

Information is stored in our bodies as Energy. Information we 1] inherit at birth 2] store from past experiences 3] absorb from others 4] receive through our multidimensional SOUL or Higher SELF within.

Energetically, inner information is programming that runs our lives. In his book, 'Biology of Belief', leading edge cell biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton Ph. D. states, 95 to 99% of the information in our sub conscious mind drives our behaviour. Amplified by the immutable Law of Cause and Effect, which causes our choices to result in experiences that match the energetic signature we send out [code for: beliefs, thoughts, words, actions, feelings.]

I believe information programs within us cause day to day struggle as humans do what we do; whereas 'BEING' human [code for: Higher SELF] is power to transform present reality into something far greater. SELF discovery, the path less travelled.

Our outer reality was created in the illusion of inner information programs [code for: limiting beliefs.] In some cases, information passed on generation to generation without question. What we create in illusion is temporary. Protesting may change the dynamics of a situation, but only temporarily. The ways of doing life, that serve few at the expense of many, are dissolving so we can choose again with new awareness [code for: SELF empowerment.]

The mind projects the past and future, causing worry about what was or will be; resulting in anxiety and fear. The non-stop recordings that have us believe we CAN'T [code for: choose again not to] and other recorded programs like we're not good enough, not smart enough; too thin, too fat; can't afford this or that; we're losers; are the mind not the REAL you.

The Real you is SOUL Who lives only in the present, loves without conditions and mature equanimity [code for: awareness outside illusion.]

Our individual inner programming is revealed through people, circumstances and events in our outer life. When triggered e-motionally [code for: the body does not lie] stop and BREATHE. Your body is asking you to choose again [code for: be present to love.] All inner information programs [Energy] seek to be one with us in higher vibration love [code for: end day to day struggle.]

Our outer global environment reflects the inner programs of our collective minds [code for: majority rules.]

Let's use a metaphor to understand our present global outer environment. Imagine individuals with their feet planted on two different globes. One foot stands on a familiar world reality created in illusion from limiting beliefs and the other foot stands on an unfamiliar world reality where body mind sprit are one [code for: The SHIFT.]

Individuals are trying to stabilize and balance between two realities facing a great unknown in the middle, that frightens the conscious mind.

The chaos caused by business NOT as usual in the form of instability, fear and anxiety in our global outer environment is a reflection of US, trying to balance between 1] familiar matter [body mind] and unfamiliar spirit [SOUL] [code for EVOLution.] Did you see the word LOVE spelled backwards in EVOLution?

If you feel resistance as you read, BREATHE! Every negative e-motion is an opportunity to transform the illusion. Focus on your heart. BREATHE and intentionally surround negative feelings with love. Love dis-empowers limiting beliefs [code for: light and dark cannot co-exist], calms the body and SELF empowers.

When we summon the courage and choose REAL love, we transform limiting beliefs causing perceived distortions, into results that are desirable. [code for: SELF discovery.] New awareness requires practice; practice truly reveals WHAT we are and why we are here.

SELF discovery is finding the REAL you. As we move through the chaos our choices are to try and hold on to same old same old or re-member BEING SOUL, a particle of Consciousness the only power that is REAL, allowing SOULutions to flow through us into our world.

The SHIFT is not about the end of the world per se; the SHIFT is about ending the illusions; replacing perceived limitations with limitless possibilities. Pioneers, choosing the path seldom to never traveled are paving the way for those without Internet access, without money, food, shelter or education. One body mind spirit, one humanity. We are the ONE we have been waiting for.

Ponder this: Are Internet, communication and other technologies on time and purpose, uniting us globally so we can support one another through the SHIFT? Is the election of Senator Barack Obama a signal? I leave the answers to you.

Origins and Perceptions of Tarot Cards

In a world that is modern and full of scientific advances and experiments, there are still some long standing traditions that claim to incorporate mystic forces. People check their horoscopes on a daily basis live by superstitions and believe that there are some things that cannot be explained. A major phenomenon that is now back in fashion is the use of tarot cards to predict a persons future and discover their past and present issues. 15th century Italy is generally believed to have been the time and place that the use of tarot cards began. The cards consisted of the Minor and Major Arcana. The Minor Arcana includes each of the four suits. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards that do not belong to any of the suits. The trend spread across Europe and became extremely popular with nobility and commoners alike. Tarot was used to predict events and eventually became of particular use to people who were interested in the occult.

The association of tarot cards and the occult led to the belief that tarot cards were involved in the dark arts and certain religions began to ban the use of tarot cards amongst their followers. Tarot cards then became a secretive form of expression with people using the divination of the cards privately. More recently, tarot cards have experienced a renewal in popularity, as people are more likely to view astrology in a light-hearted way whereas in past times they were overly superstitious. Tarot card readings have once again become hugely popular with a lot of people venturing to have their cards read on a regular basis whether for fun or for serious guidance in their lives.

There is a huge market in this type of divination at present. Even on sites like Ebay, tarot card readings are available for sale. Occult shops often depend on the sale of tarot items for their main source of income and even regular bookshops now sell tarot cards and books on tarot. There is a certain fascination with divination in general and tarot cards can be attractive and appeal to a wide range of people. Tarot cards can come in all sorts of designs and colors and the collection of tarot cards is now as popular as the reading of them. Books giving instructions on the use of tarot cards and the different spreads available are now commonplace. There are even tarot parties where a group of friends hire a tarot card reader as the entertainment for the party. One of the party members may have some knowledge in the use of tarot cards and use their skills to give readings to their friends.

Tarot cards are now so commonplace that they are no longer completely associated with the dark arts and are generally viewed as a harmless form of divination. Gone are the misconceptions that tarot card readings are performed by unsavory mysterious characters. A decent tarot card reader does not give deep, dark predictions of unwelcome events. They should instead make the customer comfortable and give a general guidance without actually instructing the customer on what to do with their lives. As some people have a dependence on this area, the tarot card reader should be able to recognize when a person is not stable enough to receive a reading and should also have the integrity to then refuse the person a reading. It is an area where the are many con-artists and scams but like anything in the world, the majority of people should not be judged by other peoples actions.

Laws of Attraction Break the United States Documentary Record!

Laws of Attraction may still be new to some, but the phrase is definitely not new to those who have been practicing the laws or the secret laws.

In the US, the Secret film that popularizes the "Laws of Attraction" was apparently the "third highest grossing documentary of all time". Does it surprise you at all? Can you remember the buzz that the film has created? It is expected that the movie will help changing even more lives!

The Secret movie though does not tell you anything new. It just reveals an ancient concept of the laws. Laws of Attraction say that thoughts become things and your thoughts will come to you when you visualize them. The laws obviously exist and they work both positive and negative ways. When you visualize negative, you receive negative; when you visualize positive, you receive positive.

In order to make sure that attraction principle work for you, you must remember that positive thinking precedes the laws. It is true that positive thinking does work, but when you mix that "positive thinking" with "emotion", your "visualization" becomes even more real than ever. That is why it is important to be able to attract positivity!

Take desire for wealth as an example. You may want to visualize the exact amount of money you want in a specific amount of time and what do you want to do specifically with that amount of money. When you focus on your desire, you are half way through your journey. Remember to actually apply the principle of attraction in your life. You cannot have a result without action. That is a fact. Period.

When you want to attract beautiful things into your life, you must feel how wonderful it feels to live the life you want and live it within your mind throughout the day. If you haven't practiced the attraction principle yet, I suggest you go do them soon.

I also have news for people who do not believe in the power of attraction - is silly for one not to accept the laws since there is no harm in believing and applying them.

Look, before the whole laws of attraction craze came along in the last three or four years, most people had no idea what they are. People just heard of "positive thinking". As we have established that "positive thinking" works, but it is even more effective when we apply the attraction principle. Remember that positive affirmations are simply statements that represent a goal or intention you would like to realize while the Laws of Attraction represent your whole being as you live and breath the Laws!

John Lee is an entrepreneur, who has found successes using the Laws of Attraction Not only he built his business from 5-figure debts to 5-figure passive income, he helps others to do the same. He is also a student of Bob Proctor and learn The Secret directly from Bob. Visit http://www.mylawofattraction.com/11-forgotten-laws/laws-of-attraction/ to claim his FREE 52 email series revealing the secrets of his making 5-figure profit-pulling business on auto-pilot every month for the last one and a half year.

Developing a Positive Attitude by Pretending

Developing a positive attitude creates a positive attitude, just as energy produces more energy. Developing a positive attitude affects your own way of thinking, as well as the thinking of other people that surrounds you. In effect, no matter how bad or rotten a situation may look like, you can make it seem or appear better by at least pretending to have that kind of outlook-even if you yourself do not feel optimistic at all. In this case, even if you are just feigning to have a constructive outlook, the people around you would sense an optimistic energy and would be influenced to the point where they are developing a positive attitude relative to a given situation.

This feigned positive attitude would also have a huge deal of favorable response and influence on anybody that you have to encounter with which can be an answer to your problem as well-even if they're not exactly included in the solution to the problem. If for example, your company is on the edge of bankruptcy, and you really need to visit the bank manager in how to get a loan to rebuild and continue your business despite the financial crisis no matter what. Now, how do you approach him? Of course, you do not want to walk right inside his office with tears welling in your eyes, begging and complaining about how terrible and unforgiving the business is.

Preferably, you would want to walk in with a hopeful smile pasted on your face and telling him optimistic and bright things about the company and your future plans, so he could see that you haven't given up hope on life, and that he could sense that there is a practicable plan in store. The point here is trying to depict or represent a positive attitude that a solution would be found in the offing that you simply refuse to believe the situation is beyond hope, and to let the team understand that you are carrying on and not calling it quits-even if you don't truly believe any of those yourself.

Pretending in possessing a positive attitude is not permitting to telling lies, however. The persons who are involved in trying to help resolve a problem must be told the truth of the situation though. This perception would clean their minds, and help them create good decision in connection to the problem at hand-which helps you also, and makes you believe as if your false positive attitude becomes real as well. In addition, you could fool yourself into possessing a positive attitude also. By feigning that you already have that positive attitude, you play it for so long that little by little, it becomes habitual-a learned stimulus.

This encouraging outlook that you get to portray each and every single day becomes real, even without you being aware of it all. If ever this happens, some people don't even recall or recognize that they were just pretending in the first place! They may begin to think it was for real all along.

Structuring Your 24 Hour Day

Difficulties Talking About Religion - Why Can't We Talk About Religion?

Why do people find it difficult to talk about religion? Have you ever heard the saying that there's three things you don't talk about. Religion, politics and other people. I have spent my whole life talking to people about all three of these topics and will continue to do so, because I find religion, politics and people extremely fascinating.

I rarely encounter an individual who would like to speak about religion, but I often, seem to worm a couple of tidbits of information from them. When I speak to someone, I do my best not to make any one feel uncomfortable, because of their religious or spiritual beliefs. This only causes frustration between us and will not get us anywhere.

I did not learn this lesson early but now have it securely fastened into my mind. Hopefully I never forget it, to some people it's more important to be right than happy, I want to be happy and give them something to think about.

Some people when talking about religion can become quite animated and start throwing their arms in the air, jumping up and down, yelling and screaming, calling me names and even threatening me. This doesn't make any sense to me, because they're supposed to be compassionate and loving individuals. What's wrong with them, I know there's nothing wrong with me, what could be wrong with them. Just kidding. Isn't this how we think though.

It seems like most people don't have problems talking to other people whom agree with them. You will find very little difficulties talking about religion with others, whom agree wholeheartedly with your thinking. The difficulties arise when someone brings a topic into the conversation that becomes offensive, because they either don't understand it or have been taught to believe something different about it.

The difficulties talking about other religions or spiritual beliefs, will probably always cause friction, until we start taking some time to understand where they are coming from. If you have somebody that upsets you, when speaking about their religion or spiritual beliefs, I have something I would like you to try the next time you see them.

Try to spend some time finding common ground, ask them about their religious or spiritual beliefs. Gather some information and try to understand, "Where Their Coming From". This could lead you to a better understanding about them and possibly learn something about yourself.

Client Centered Therapy and Why it Can Work For You

Person Centered Therapy, also known as Client Centered, Non Directive, or Rogerian Therapy, is an approach to counseling and psychotherapy that places much of the emphasis on three main Core Conditions and relies heavily on the relationship between client and counsellor. The client is recognised as the expert on them self and this is why it works.

It is often said that of all the models of therapeutic intervention, person-centred therapy (PCT) makes the greatest demands on the therapist. This is because a client in PCT must feel that their therapist is utterly trustworthy and dependable as a person. In this model of therapy the relationship between client and therapist is of paramount importance.

Psychological skill is not enough in this model. in addition, the client must feel that the therapist is totally accepting of them, no therapist can fake genuine regard for a client for a sustained period of time.

A person-centred therapist's attitude to the client should be of total acceptance of the client as he or she is at present, not of what that person may become in the future.

At the very heart of the therapy is the belief that if a person is cared for by the therapist, then that person begins to feel that he or she is worth caring for, this is a very powerful affirmation for a person seeking help.

The Core Conditions synonymous with this model are Acceptance, Genuiness and Empathy.

Acceptance. The Counsellor or Therapist must be able to accept the client as they are, accept their issues and that the client is in control of the therapeutic relationship.

Genuineness. The Counsellor or Therapist is real or authentic in his/her behaviour towards the working relationship with the client. They do not sit as expert, only as a skilled practitioner who will assist the client in finding their own answers to the presenting problem and other issues which may be of concern to the client.

Empathy. is the capacity to share and understand another persons emotions and feelings. It is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another persons shoes", or in some way experience what the other person is feeling.

Person or Client Centred Therapists believe that if the relationship is as it should be and if the Core Conditions are in place, then Therapeutic Change is likely. This is great news for clients choosing this model of therapy.
